During a peaceful march, a civil society group, Movement for Democracy Change and People’s Rights Tuesday called for the immediate removal of the Minister of Interior Affairs, Comrade Abba Moro and the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, David Shikfru Paddang, over alleged poor planning and execution of the Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise, which led to death of about 20 job seekers last Saturday across Nigeria.
The group which marched in protest to the Lagos State House of Assembly was led by Comrade Raji Rasheed.
The protesters also demanded the setting up of a probe panel to investigate the ugly incident as well as fishing out officials involved in the fatal incident.
The group’s leader, Comrade Rasheed also urged on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate how many forms were sold, the amount of money realised from the sales and the consultants to the NIS on the recruitment exercise.
The group, while extending their condolences to the families of the bereaved, advised that each of the deceased’s family be paid N50 million as compensation for the sudden death of their loved ones.
