8 Ogun Lawmakers Defect to PDP, SDP

Five Ogun State House of Assembly members on Tuesday defected from the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, while three others moved from the All Progressives Congress, APC, the ruling party in the state, to the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, announced the defections to the House.

He said he received a letter announcing the defection of Messrs Joseph Adegbesan, representing Ijebu North II; Salmon Adeleke, representing Imeko -Afon; John Obafemi, representing Remo North; Remmy Hazzan representing Odoogbolu; and Obafemi Olowo-Oloja representing Ijebu East from PPN to PDP.

“I also got three letters this morning from Olufemi Allen-Taylor representing Abeokuta South II, Oludaisi Elemide representing Odeda and Elizabeth Anifowose representing Obafemi -Owode announcing their defection from the APC to the SDP,” he said.

In another development, the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun’s letter to the House on his intention to present the 2015 Appropriation Bill on November 18 to the Assembly was read by the speaker.

“This is in accordance with the provision of section 121 of the Nigerian constitution,” Mr. Adekunbi said. he speaker said. “Governor Amosun expressed gratitude to the members of Ogun State House of Assembly for their cooperation with the executive.”

The speaker said the governor would also be presenting the 2015 budget proposal.
