Security operatives have, Saturday, intercepted a Russian plane carrying arms and ammunition at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
The crew have been taking into custody, according to a security operative who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
It cannot be independently verified if the munitions destination is Nigeria or whether the plane was in transit.
However, it was gathered that the cache of arms includes AK47s, Bullet proof vests and other arms suspected to be travelling to neighbouring Chad.
Security agencies are currently investigating circumstances surrounding the incident.
Recall that there has been speculations that the Chadian authorities may have been aiding Boko Haram activities after the federal government was tricked by the Chadian authorities to believe a seize fire deal had been struck with the insurgents, which turned out to be a ruse.
