2019: Why I Won’t Contest Despite Intense Pressure – Goodluck Jonathan

Despite the his political party, the Peoples Democratic Party is almost in disarray, former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has disclosed that he was being put under intense pressure to contest president in 2019 election.

The Nigerian leader who voluntarily relinquished power after his defeat in 2015 presidential election, spoke while addressing his kinsmen who paid him an end of year visit in his hometown, Otueke in Bayelsa State.

According to media reports, Jonathan said he has been receiving calls, messages and e-mails from both local and international groups, asking him to contest again.

The former president who insisted that he was not thinking of contesting in 2019, noted that he believes he has done his best for the country while he serviced.

He added that his successors would continue from where he stopped.
Jonathan was defeated by President Muhamamdu Buhari in 2015 presidential election.
