Arewa Groups Set To Celebrate Kaduna Declaration Anniversary

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), which issued the noted quit notice of Igbos in Northern Nigeria to leave by October last year and later suspended the eviction notice, has set aside two days to celebrate what the coalition described as the success of the declaration in Kaduna State.

The body in a statement by its spokesman, Comrade Suleiman Abdul-Azeez, on Thursday recalled that on June 6, “exactly one year ago, the famous Kaduna Declaration was made at the Area House, Kaduna.”

He went on to stated that the “CNG is also proud to note that within just the first few weeks, the Kaduna Declaration recorded the first major achievement by forcing real questions of notional security, unity, and public safety unto the nation’s discussion agenda.

“Since then, with a slight review, the Kaduna Declaration steadily continued to record success with all its other articles that include a rigorous campaign against drug and substance abuse in the north etc.

“As we mark the first year of that bold and necessary outing, we are happy to announce that an elaborate celebration has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 20th and Thursday 21st June 2018.

“The shift became necessary in view of the demands that come with the final lap of the  annual Muslim fasting period.

“On the rescheduled dates, CNG shall take a comprehensive assessment of the successes achieved by the Kaduna declaration as well as plan for the coming year.

“We are grateful to all Nigerians especially the northern public and all sections of the nation’s media for the support, cooperation and understanding shown to this movement in the last 12 months”, the CNG said.
